GE: Solar cheapest energy form in 5 years
There always has been a talk of solar energy being cost competitive with other power sources such as coal or gas. Now General Electric is jumping on the bandwagon. While naysayers push that solar can’t exist without subsidies because it’s too expensive, GE’s Global Research Director Mark Little, believes that in five years solar will be cheaper than nuclear and forms of fossil fuel, according to an interview with Bloomberg. Of course, GE’s got a pretty big dog in the solar fight after it pledged to build one of the largest solar panel manufacturing plants in the…

After 1099 win, businesses target health insurance tax
Business groups that don’t like health care reform are chipping away at provisions they don’t like, realizing that outright repeal is years away at best. They’ve already succeeded in getting one provision removed. Because of the paperwork burden it would impose on small businesses, Congress last month repealed a requirement that would have forced companies to file a 1099 form with the Internal Revenue Service anytime they spend more than $600 with any other business. This expansion of the current 1099 requirement, which applies only to payments to unincorporated service providers, was expected to raise revenue by making businesses less likely to hide income from the…

Palin’s also going on bus tour that is almost certain to include a stop in New Hampshire (an early presidential primary battleground). There’s also talk that Palin could come to Arizona and run for the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by the retiring Jon Kyl. But Arizona political commentator Anna Johnson has come up with a third option: Palin running for Arizona governor in…
